You’re in a hurry and you want to quickly improve your mood. What can you do? You don’t want to spend much money, and you don’t have much time. Try one or more of the ideas in the list below to feel happier.

- Relive some of your favorite humorous TV and film moments. I think of my favorite funny scenes in Seinfeld and The IT Crowd. Within 10 seconds I’m laughing.
- Think about something positive and happy, such as some of the happiest moments in your life, or plants, people and animals you like
- Imagine something beautiful, positive and uplifting
- Imagine having completed one of your goals, so you feel happy and content
- Think or say some positive affirmations
- Go for a walk, jog or run
- Do some yoga
- Do tai chi
- Go to the gym, or exercise at home, in a park, on the beach…
- Go to the park, beach or other nature/scenic spot to relax
- Meditate
- Watch a comedy or inspiring movie
- Play with, hug or talk to an animal
- Paint, draw, write, or do something else creative that makes you happy
- Sing uplifting songs – sing them aloud or just think them
- Talk to someone who makes you laugh
- Listen to uplifting and inspiring music
- Watch something funny or touching on YouTube
- Read an uplifting book
- Read some inspirational quotes
- Read some jokes in a book or on the Internet, or laugh at some of the best jokes you already know
- Share a joke, or something else that boosts your mood, with someone
- Have a drink of coffee, tea or herbal tea
- Have a little bit of chocolate, some tasty fruit, raw unprocessed nuts (nuts are great brain food) or some other food you like
- Have a massage
- Play an instrument
- Throw out some things cluttering up your home or office that annoy you
